This is a very rare original Japanese vintage travel poster. The poster depicts a beautiful Japanese landscape with Mount Fuji prominently displayed in the background. The poster is issued by the Japanese Government Railways, which disbanded in 1949.
One of the roles of the Japanese Government Railways was to attract foreign tourists to Japan. In 1930, the government created the Board of Tourist Industry as a section of the Japanese Government Railways. The Board was dissolved in 1942, following the outbreak of the Pacific War in 1941.
The poster has several traces of wear. Dirt, missing paper, foxing. Would look very nice framed.
