This is a great art deco style poster overlooking the old city of Stockholm and the harbor with the Stockholm City skyline in the back. In the front you see Stockholm City Hall (Stockholm Stadhus) that was completed in 1923. It’s the venue of the Nobel Prize banquet and is one of Stockholm’s major tourist attractions. The city of Stockholm is spread across 14 islands on the coast in the southeast of Sweden at the mouth of Lake Mälaren, by the Stockholm archipelago and the Baltic sea.
The poster has some small dirt stains at upper left. Otherwise in great shape. It’s been professionally mounted on linen with an acid free barrier for preservation.
The artist Iwar Donnér is a well-known Swedish painter and represented in the National Museums in both Stockholm and Oslo.
Printed by Esselte in eight colors, yellow, green, black, light blue, light red, dark red, dark blue and gray. This poster was presented in Esselte's booklet "Grafiska Arbeten 1937".
It’s a pleasure to have this popular poster in stock again. Would look great on the wall!
