This is an original vintage Danish poster issued in 1943 during wartime to warn the public about the fire hazards posed by phosphorus-based incendiary items. The poster was created by *Justitsministeriets Propagandaudvalg* (the Ministry of Justice's Propaganda Committee), which played an important role in public safety awareness in Denmark during the 1940s. At the time, the term "propaganda" was used in a neutral sense, referring to informational or public awareness campaigns.
The text on the poster reads:
"Finder De saadanne Genstande, saa lad dem ligge. Tænder de Ild, saa prøv at slukke. Afbrændte eller ikke eksploderede Brandmidler er livsfarlige, lad dem ligge, og giv øjeblikkelig Meddelelse til nærmeste Politi- eller Luftværnsmyndighed."
Translation:
"If you find such objects, leave them. If they start a fire, try to put it out. Burned or unexploded incendiary materials are dangerous to life; leave them and immediately notify the nearest police or air defense authority."
The poster is in good condition, with minor paper loss at the top, pinholes, fold marks, light foxing, vibrant colors, and light wear. Despite these imperfections, it remains a historically significant piece from the era.
